Job Title: Synthetic Chemist Location: Cambridge Salary: Competitive, dependant on experience with excellent benefits Reed Scientific have partnered with a Pharmaceutical company who develop technical solutions for the production of complex APIs. They are known for developing cleaner and quicker routes to complex molecules, making access to more affordable medicines a reality. The role We are recruiting for a synthetic chemist with experience of developing routes to complex molecules. In this role, you would be be involved in the early development of new synthetic routes for the development more of more sustainable and cost-effective processes to manufacture complex active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates. Responsibilities Conducting literature searches to pinpoint potential routes, experimental evaluation of these routes on a laboratory scale and transfer to larger scale as required and according to agreed timelines. Collaborate with Analytical Scientists to set up the target compound specifications, then ensure the delivered compounds meet specifications. Presenting your work at project review meetings and compile concise reports that summarise your work, for technology transfer to other sites. You will be required to spend time at other sites to enable smooth technology transfer. Qualifications, experience and skills required A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in synthetic organic chemistry or a related discipline, ideally accompanied by Postdoctoral or equivalent experience within industry. Excellent synthetic chemistry knowledge Proven experience of development and implementation of synthetic routes to complex target molecules would be an advantage. Previous experience in developing and applying new technologies would be an advantage Excellent communication skills Excellent documentation practices with attention to detail. Have a pro-active approach to work Ability to be flexible and to prioritise workload based on deadlines Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ChemDraw.
