Position Overview:
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Provide health treatment to individuals who have a mental illness that seriously impairs their functioning in the community. Serving those whose needs have not been met by traditional clinic-based approaches, this innovative, recovery-oriented, ‘best practice’ intervention delivers treatment to people in their homes, shelters, parks and anywhere else they happen to be living, engaging them in a sustained relationship that leads to recovery. ACT Teams are a mobile interdisciplinary team of professionals (psychiatry, nursing, social work, rehabilitation).The ACT teams Psychiatrist partners with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver comprehensive mental
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Write prescriptions for psychotropic medications as allowed by state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
Review health assessments completed by the Program Nurse and provide clinical feedback.
Provide medication management including prescription refills and medication education to consumers.
Document patients' medical and psychological histories, physical assessment results, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, or outcomes.
Provide training to other team members on topics including medications and drug interactions.
Communicate and coordinate care with psychiatrists in the community, as needed.
Assist with psychiatric emergencies, refer residents to emergency care if needed.
Provide crisis intervention and address all emergency situations as appropriate.
Maintain up to date, accurate, complete, and timely consumer chart documentation.
Attend staff meetings, case conferences, group supervision, and trainings as needed.
Comply with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, SUS Corporate Compliance Policies, and NYS Dept. of Social Services Rules, Regulations, and Statutes.
Coordinates care with S:US nurse practitioners, medical director and administrative staff; closely coordinates with clinicians external to S:US as appropriate.
Utilizes best and evidence-based approaches to treatment consistent with S:US' organizational culture; health/mental health integration, rehabilitation and recovery, and wellness approaches figure prominently.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be licensed as a physician by the New York State education department
Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Addiction and/or Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
3-5 years of experience in an administrative and/or supervisory role
Experience with underserved individuals and direct service to people living with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders
Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer literacy
Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred
Familiarity with recovery-oriented, evidence-based clinical practice
Experience with dually diagnosed individuals
Experience with diverse populations
Preference given for experience working with both children and adults; experience with people with co-occurring disorders highly desirable.
