Job Title: Secondary School Science Teacher Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester Job Type: Term time Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Job Description: We are seeking passionate and dedicated Secondary School Science Teachers to join our pool of candidates supporting schools in Oldham. As a Science Teacher, you will inspire curiosity and exploration in students, fostering their scientific inquiry skills and nurturing a lifelong love for science. Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging science lessons that cover a range of scientific disciplines - including biology, chemistry, and physics - in accordance with the national curriculum. Practical Investigations: Facilitate hands-on laboratory practical investigations, providing students with opportunities to develop their scientific inquiry skills and deepen their understanding of scientific concepts. Scientific Literacy: Develop students' scientific literacy by promoting critical thinking, analysis, and evaluation of scientific information, as well as fostering a love of science. Assessment and Feedback: Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress and attainment, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development in science. Differentiation: Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, providing additional support and extension opportunities as necessary to ensure all students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential in science. Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to promote cross-curricular links and learning opportunities, as well as contributing to departmental initiatives and the wider school community. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialisation in science. Relevant degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field). Previous experience teaching science at the secondary level is desirable. Strong subject knowledge and a passion for science education. Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current educational research and best practices in science teaching.
