Organization Overview:
The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University, which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups, including The Rockefeller University Council, the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans, and the Women and Science and Parents and Science Initiatives, the Development Office oversees all private fund-raising at the University, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns.
Overview:
The Development Officer, Outreach Programming and Events will provide key staff support for programs at The Rockefeller University that build and foster collaborations both within and without the greater Rockefeller University community. As part of a four-member team, the Development Officer is a highly organized and motivated individual who will provide key support in planning, managing, and implementing a wide variety of events, both large and small in scale, including scientific symposia, lecture series, prize presentations, concerts, community outreach events, and Convocation.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director and Assistant Director of Outreach Programming and Events, the Development Officer will provide support for the management and oversight of a variety of programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: management of non-university rentals – overseeing rental requests and correspondence, upgrading university rental marketing materials, conducting campus site visits, managing contracts and insurance, creating and tracking invoices, and working closely with each client to coordinate all event logistics; manage incoming registration process for university events; reviewing and editing print and digital content; and overseeing event coordination with AV, catering, and custodial teams. The Development Officer will act as the primary contact with Accounts Payable and Purchasing departments for the Outreach Programming and Events team, processing and tracking check requests, reimbursements, and honoraria, managing purchase orders and payments, and ordering special materials required for events.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Assisting with the university's room reservation system through the review, communication, and negotiation of all on-campus room reservations, as well as working with the Office of Communications and Public Affairs to ensure that all internal event content is current and available on the university website.
Contributing to the development of program content, including event topics and titles to enhance and market the university’s branded events.
Supporting and increasing the introduction of prospective supporters to Rockefeller through the university programs, in coordination with the Development program.
Maintaining tracking systems in Blackbaud CRM for:
Event attendance and seating
Underwriting support for symposia
Letters, memos, briefings, honoraria, and other communications related to hosting events
Participating in meetings of general issues related to the university and the fundraising program.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree from a well-regarded institution.
Minimum of 3 years of related experience in the area of development or event management, preferably in a university or other appropriate non-profit setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies.
Proven ability to plan and manage a wide range of activities.
Excellent written communications skills, including the ability to edit and proofread a diversity of written materials.
Ability to fit smoothly into a well-run operation noted for its atmosphere of teamwork and open communication. Prior experience in participating effectively in team planning efforts.
Experience working with development software, Blackbaud CRM preferred. Experience with Word, Excel, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, website properties maintained through a CMS (Content Management System), and basic HTML code skills a plus.
Must be available to work evenings, early mornings, and occasional weekend events as necessary.
Compensation Range: Min:
USD $55,000.00/Yr.
Compensation Range: Max:
USD $65,000.00/Yr.
