S:US is seeking a Community Coordinator for our women's shelter in Manhattan

 

This position is located at 35 W. 126th Street New York, NY 10027

 

Salary:

 

Minimum Salary:$15.82/hr.

Maximum Salary:  $15.82/hr.

 

The Community Coordinator will work as a member of a team to improve relationships between the Shelter program and the neighboring community including residents, businesses and Community Police Officers. Community Coordinators will focus on safety, security and quality of life issues. The Community Coordinator will assist in problem solving, communication and relationship building. Community Coordinators will identify resources in the community for Shelter residents and will develop collaborative community projects for both Shelter Residents and neighbors to participate in.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicates and documents all program activities, incidents, issues and other relevant information in a complete, professional and timely manner.

Reads all logs books, emails and incident reports at the start of shift.

Updates all log books throughout shift and before ending shift assignment.

Completes and submits incident reports as they occur.

Completes shift summary report before ending shift assignment.

Receives, acknowledges receipt of and documents all complaints/concerns expressed by neighbors or other community members.

Attends and participates in regular staff meetings and community meetings as assigned.

Enforces shelter rules uniformly and consistently.

Responds appropriately to needs and crisis situations, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between residents and summoning emergency personnel.

Facilitates the Good Neighbor Policy orientation for each new resident.

Facilitates and/or participates in a Good Neighbor Focus group with residents focusing on neighborhood concerns and to generating ideas for positive community participation.

Develops and coordinates community engagement activities for shelter residents.

Participates in ongoing individual supervision, team meetings, case conferences, division meetings and trainings as appropriate and assigned.

Assists Shift Supervisors with fire drills and building evacuations during emergencies and provides client with fire safety and prevention information as needed.

Maintains CPR/ First Aid Certification

Remains on-duty until properly relieved.

Wears S:US branded clothing while conducting neighborhood walks and when serving as a shelter representative in the community.

Works a schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours.

Performs other duties related to the program as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Facility Manager and/or Program Director.

Complies with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols.

Working knowledge of various computer software programs including email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Evening and weekend hours may be required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred

2 years of experience in a large residential setting is required

Strong interpersonal and communication skills required

Valid Driver’s license with clean record subject to Agency’s insurance review and approval
