Working with one of the UK's leading automotive manufacturers, this is an exciting opportunity for a Passive Safety Principal Engineer to work on a variety of prototype vehicles including Electric/Hybrid and Autonomous Vehicle projects.
As Vehicle Planning Engineer you will be responsible for on time delivery of technical solutions & documentation to align with program schedules and to support quality and cost improvements.
Job Duration – 12 months rolling contract
Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-1.20pm
Location - Cranfield
Pay Rate:£28.61/hr and £4.29/hr holiday accrual and £0.86 pension accrual
Basic salary equivalent £58,021 Deliverables and KPIs:
Parts development and system performance planning knowledge of Passive Safety Systems (Restraints) covering seatbelts, airbags and steering wheels on all NTCE models, integrating supplier standard parts onto vehicle architecture.
Ability to understand Safety Regulation and key changes for future models, and the importance of NCAP and its component requirements.
Project manage a variety of vehicle projects for both lifecycle and new model development timing, incorporating the key safety-related milestones.
Cost and budget management for current and new models, with ability to benchmark and compare those models to investigate cost reduction opportunities.
Define new Concepts for current and new models based on Regulation and project requirements.
Validation of system and component performance from test and highlight concern areas with potential solutions.
Delivery of new and current projects to the key milestone reporting, on time and on budget.
Delivery of FY cost reduction target according to projects and securing timing requirements.
Delivery of Quality concern resolution based on market concerns arising in a timely manner as assigned.
Production preparation and delivery to key milestones, including supplier process audit and manufacturing plant support.
Quality achievement for vehicle targets.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
More than five years in automotive experience, ideally with OEM or Tier 1 supplier and has covered at least one project from conception to completion on design side.
Degree in Engineering or similar discipline.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a global, cross-functional, cross-cultural environment
Excellent problem-solving skills with knowledge of Design Review, FTA and FMEA methods
Organised and self-motivated to learn and constantly improve.
Proven knowledge of automotive design and process experience
