Sydney Hospital is Australia's first hospital and dates from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. Today, Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospitals' state of the art facilities and professional staff provide a unique blend of general and specialist medical services for the public. The Hospital is in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney.  The hospital is: - Directly across the road from Martin Place and St James Station - Walking distance to various Bus stops - The Light rail is a walking distance on George St - walking distance Ferry terminal at Circular Quay You will be working on Ward 2 west, an 18 bed Surgical unit that specialises in Ophthalmology and Hand surgery.   You will also have the opportunity to work in the hand clinic which is co located next to the ward. All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles. Demonstrated recent extensive post registration experience in a surgical setting.
